Meet Katherine
Katherine Lee, RDH & Myofunctional Therapist
As a Registered Dental Hygienist with more than 20 years of clinical experience, I have seen firsthand how oral function, breathing patterns, and oral habits can influence a person's health and well-being. But my interest in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is not just professional—it's personal.
For years, I experienced many of the same challenges that bring people to myofunctional therapy. I was a mouth breather and have sleep apnea, forward head posture, and dark circles under my eyes often called allergic shiners. Through my own experience with myofunctional therapy, I learned more about the connection between breathing, tongue posture, oral function, and overall health. Treatment helped me address these patterns and reduce my symptoms, giving me a deeper appreciation for the difference that individualized care can make.
My journey also became more personal when two of my nephews needed myofunctional therapy. Watching their mom struggle to find a qualified therapist made me realize how difficult it can be for families to access this type of care. I wanted to help bridge that gap and make myofunctional therapy more accessible to children and adults who may benefit from it.
These experiences inspired me to pursue advanced training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and bring together my years of dental experience with a more comprehensive understanding of oral function and breathing.
My Philosophy
At Thrive and Breathe, I believe meaningful change begins with understanding the individual. Every person has a unique history, set of challenges, and goals. My approach is gentle, supportive, and individualized, with an emphasis on education, awareness, and building sustainable habits.
Whether you're a parent concerned about your child's mouth breathing or oral habits, or an adult looking to improve tongue posture, swallowing patterns, or breathing habits, my goal is to help you better understand your oral function and work toward meaningful improvements.
I believe therapy should feel like a partnership. Together, we work toward practical, manageable changes that fit into everyday life. When appropriate, I also recognize the importance of collaborating with other healthcare professionals to support each person's needs.
Why Thrive and Breathe?
Thrive and Breathe grew from my belief that breathing well and developing healthy oral function deserve greater attention. I know personally how these challenges can affect daily life, and I understand how overwhelming it can feel to know something isn't quite right without knowing where to turn.
My goal is to provide a welcoming place where children, adults, and families feel heard, supported, and empowered with the knowledge and tools to move forward.
Because sometimes, small changes in the way we breathe, rest, and function can make a meaningful difference in how we feel.
